In 1949, Mr. Alexander Sawaya brought the idea of establishing a Rotary club in Tripoli.
He and twenty eminent people from Tripoli composed the first foundation committee.

In 1950, the first official president, Dr.Wahib Nini was elected. The meeting was held at Alfred Hakim hotel.
Since then, all meeting were held on Tuesday evening and at : Alfred Hakim Hotel then Al-Muntazah Hotel, Chalet Du Petit Suisse, Silver Coast, Naoura Resort, Miramar Resort, Palma resort, Quality Inn and lately at Union Sportive).

The club bell was offered to the club by Mr. Jean Fattal from R.C. Beirut.
Two members from the club were chosen as 2450 district governors:
- Dr. Wahib Nini (1973 - 1974).
- Dr. Hazem Finge (1992 - 1993).
The club founded the first Rotaract and Interact clubs in Lebanon.
In 2010, and during the presidency of P.P Rony Azar, the club was registered as an official Lebanese NGO (Reg# : 798).
Sixty three years passed, and the Wheel still rotating !
